Office workers more at risk of prostate cancer

Men who do very little physical activity at work are more likely to develop prostate cancer, a new study has revealed.
Research published in the journal Cancer Causes and Control found that office-bound workers such as lawyers, managers and administrators were at a higher risk than masons, bricklayers, painters and welders.
Senior study author Beate Ritz said: “The message from this study for today is that if you’re more active, you may be able to prevent this cancer from happening.
“If you have desk job, do something physically active to counterbalance it.”
The research follows on from research carried out three years ago by a team from Harvard’s School of Public
Health that found regular exercise could slow the progression of prostate cancer.
Chris Hiley, from the Prostate Cancer Charity, said: “Regular exercise throughout life has benefits and this could be yet an example where stedy and prolonged application is ‘money in the bank’ later in life.”
