Seven foods which could save your life

Behold, the new Magnificent Seven.
Ok, so they maybe they’re not about to don a cape and save you from a burning building, but they could be what stands between you and an early grave.
Why? Because they are all superfoods, and as most of us don’t have the time to go to the gym every day, they are the easiest way to stay fit and healthy.
The only problem you are going to have his trying to come up with new ways of cooking and preparing them.
7. Blueberries
Blueberries are one of the richest sources of antioxidants, which help us fight free radicals.
So what are they? They basically attack soluble fats in the blood and cause a build up in your arteries that restrict blood flow.
When they are allowed to build up in our system they can actually cause cell damage and trigger cancer.
Antioxidants contained in blueberries help to slow the ageing process and reduce the risk of cancer.
6. Apricots
The humble apricot not only is bursting with Vitamin C, it’s also high in beta-carotene and lycopene, which makes it really good for your heart.
But that’s not it.
They are also good for your eyesight and very high in fibre, which really is a big bonus.
5. Beans
Beans - such as kidney, pinto, navy and black - are a great way to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer.
They contain no saturated fat or cholesterol, and provide important nutrients such as fibre, protein, calcium, iron, folic acid and potassium.
Studies have shown they can also reduce the risk of high blood pressure and stroke.
4. Cinnamon
Just half a teaspoon of cinnamon per day can lower LDL cholesterol.
But that’s not it!
A recent US study also found that has other health-boosting properties. These include preventing the proliferation of cancerous cells.
3. Tomatoes
Tomatoes are simply amazing.
Not only is it full of antioxidants and vitamin E, both of which keep your heart healthy, they are also full of an exceptionally potent antioxidant called lycopene.
These can prevent the build of free radicals - and none of us want that. Oh no!!
2. Avocados
And to think, avocados were once banished from dinner plates for being too high in fat.
A study in 1996 changed all that. The 45 volunteers who ate avocados every day for a week experienced an average drop of 17% in total blood cholesterol.
Their levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) and triglycerides, both associated with heart disease, went down, while their HDL (high-density lipoprotein) levels, which tend to lower the risk of heart disease, climbed.
1. Broccoli
In addition to the extremely important role it plays in cancer prevention, broccoli helps reduce the risk of heart disease.
