Five ways to stop you getting the flu

Are you one of those people who always gets flu?
Every winter without fail you find yourself coughing and spluttering your way around the house. You've almost finished the box of tissues next to your bed, you could fry and egg on your forehead and your muscles feel like you have done 10 rounds with Ricky Hatton.
Urgh!! We've all been there (especially us poor men). Well, DietPixie has come up with five ways to prevent getting the dreaded flu.
Okay, eating loads of raw garlic may not be the best thing for your love life, but it's the best way to prevent flu. And not just because you won't be kissing dirty strangers.
It's mainly because it contains allicin and other sulphur compounds that are very effective in fighting viruses.
I know a lot of people find water boring and tasteless, but it is one of the best ways to improve your natural immune system. Gulping down a couple of litres of water every day is a superb way to stay healthy and out of that nasty sick bed.
Boring and tasteless?! Well, just take in mind most of your body is made up of it. Besides, you can always make it slightly more interesting by adding a little bit of honey, lemon juice or sugar-free juice.
So how much should you drink? Well, a good way is to check the colour of your urine. No, I am not taking the piss, all right? It's a very effective way of finding out whether or not you are properly hydrated. Nice and clear is good, deep yellow means you better start reaching for the tap.
3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
Want to stop yourself catching flu? Then stop those nasty habits of yours, like biting your nails or picking your nose.
Your nose, mouth and eyes are like the doors of heaven for flu viruses, so try and stop yourself falling into their trap.
4. Washing your hands properly
Now don't get offended by the mere implication that you don't wash properly. I'm sure you do.
However, recent research suggests that many people do not have the same high standards as you when it comes to hand hygiene.
Washing your hands several times a day in warm water and soap for 15-20 seconds is a superb way of reducing your chances of getting flu. So get washing.
Simple I know, but still the best way to prevent getting the flu.
