Trying to lose weight can be a real pain. Cutting down on the things you like to eat, like chocolate or chips, is never easy.
But to make matters worse, some foods you think will help you shed the pounds could actually be doing exactly the opposite.
They make you feel more hungry and affect your blood sugar levels.
Confused? Well, don’t worry. DietPixie has come up with five tasty foods that will actually help you in your quest to slim down.
1. Sardines
Want your diet plan to go swimmingly? Then sardines could well be the answer (I know, it’s a terrible joke).
First of all, it’s packed with protein, which helps you stabilise your blood sugar levels, makes you feel full and even stimulates your metabolism.
Secondly, it’s a great source of Omega-3s, which not only can strengthen your cardiovascular system, but can also make you feel happier. Hooray!
2. Pumpkin
The humble pumpkin is one of the best weight loss foods available.
Why? Mainly because it’s high in fibre - which helps with weight management - and low in calories. Simple.
It’s also pretty easy to do something with and it takes nice too. Bonus.
3. Grapefruit
The grapefruit has a hefty repuation to uphold as a fat fighter. For years people have hailed its benefits to slimmers. However, it seems to be living up to the tag quite well.
A recent US study revealed that eating half a grapefruit before you tuck into a meal can actually help you drop weight. Pretty impressive!
But wait, the grapefruit’s amazing powers do not stop there. Apparently, it also contains compounds - liminoids and lycopene, to be precise - that can even help fight cancer. Knockout!
4. Green Tea
Okay, so it’s not food. But in the fight against the flab, green tea could be just what you need.
A cup a day could slightly boost your metabolism and fat oxidation, but for real results try six cups and see how much you lose.
It can also guard against stress, aid digestion and improve your heart’s health.
5. Grass-fed beef
Want to eat meat without the usual health concerns? Then grass-fed beef is just the answer.
It’s packed full of protein, an essential aid in helping you lose weight as it makes you feel full longer. It’s also full of omega-3s, helping your brain grow as your waist is whittled.
