loverat, gene, unfaithfulApparently a bunch of scientists have tracked down a common genetic flaw in men that prevents the bearer of it settling down easily. They’re less likely to take a wife or have kids.

Those that do get married are twice as likely to be in a rocky marriage or to have discussed divorce.
The gene – dubbed the ‘love rat gene’ by Brit papers – is linked to a bonding chemical (vasopressin). So when they say ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ turns out it’s true.

Do men have biological clocks too?

July 7th, 2008 11:04

Do men have biological clocks?Men have biological clocks just like women – and it starts ticking in their mid-30s.

That’s according to a new French study, which found that men are more likely to shoot blanks after the age of 35.

It gets worse. According to this new research, alarm bells go off five years later when a man hits 40 as his chances of becoming a father become “significantly lower”.

coffee can prevent heart diseaseDrinking a few cups of coffee a day may prevent heart disease, a new study has found.

But before you all get excited – it only works on women. It apparently offers no protection to men – and what makes it worse is that scientists have no idea why.

OK, I’m pretty jealous now. For a moment there, I thought those early morning calls to coffee houses to get my caffeine fix had not been in vain.

http://www.dietpixie.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/couple.jpgOur guest writer Louise Robertson casts her eye over relationships, and the link to your waistline…

At the 8 month stage of every relationship, I develop anorexia, sort of… in the way that every time I look in the mirror, all I see is fat!

It’s a familiar rut and is why I believe relationships are bad for your health. You not only develop bad habits but any bad habits that you already have get stuck and it is impossible to shake them off.

DietPixie looking for a new editor

The more observant of you may have noticed it has been a while since we posted a new story.

This is basically because DietPixie currently has no editor. Our former editor, Holly, recently had a baby and understandably found the stresses and strains of juggling the demands of a full-time job, website and motherhood a little too much.

But don’t worry. We are currently in the process of looking for a new editor and the site should be back up and running soon.

Want to throw your hat into the ring? Well, that’s great. We really believe in DietPixie and we want it to be a success.

Just send me an email at david@hecklerspray.com and tell me why you would be a great editor or writer of Dietpixie and we’ll take it from there.
