Study reveals dangers of mobile phones for kids

Pregnant women who use mobile phones could be harming their unborn children’s health.
So say researchers in Denmark and America, who say that pregnant women who use handheld mobiles were almost 60 per cent more likely to have kids with issues such as hyperactivity.
The report – which tested thousands of Danish children and is due to be published in the journal Epidemiology – also stated that the rose sharply if the child used a mobile themselves before the age of seven.
However, before you all throw your mobile phones into the bin, the scientists from the universities of California, USA, and Aarhus, Denmark, were quick to point out that the results “should be interpreted with caution”.
They also stated that further research was needed, but added: “If they are real, they would have major public health implications.”
So where does that leave us? Well, mobiles have long been linked with brain cancer, but all of us at DietPixie are yet to be convinced.
Like the researchers say, more tests need to be done before we can start to think of it as a genuine hazard. The tests are certainly inconclusive. The programme compared 13,159 kids born in the late 90s depending on whether their mothers used mobiles when they were pregnant.
Those who did were 54 per cent to suffer from behavioural issues than those who didn’t.
That figure rose to 80 per cent if the children used phones themselves.
