Study highlights negative impact of shift working on health

A few simple adjustments to working schedules could help to reduce illness and health problems for night shift workers.
According to www.msn.com, a fifth of all employees work on shift patterns, and straying from Dolly Parton’s favoured 9 to 5 appears to be the reason for many mental and physical health problems.
Researchers at Durham University found that varying the shift patterns regularly and giving employees more control over their working hours were both beneficial to staff health.
Dr. Clare Bambra noted: “When employers are considering changes to shift workers’ shifts, they need to consider the effects on health and work-life balance of their employees”.
Maybe Dolly didn’t have it so bad after all.
