Scientists find ‘unfaithful’ man gene, women everywhere fume

Apparently a bunch of scientists have tracked down a common genetic flaw in men that prevents the bearer of it settling down easily. They’re less likely to take a wife or have kids.
Those that do get married are twice as likely to be in a rocky marriage or to have discussed divorce.
The gene - dubbed the ‘love rat gene’ by Brit papers - is linked to a bonding chemical (vasopressin). So when they say ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ turns out it’s true.
The partners of guys with this genetic ‘defect’ tended to be unhappy with their lot in life. Go figure.
The Swedish boffins looked at the DNA of 500 sets of twins in long-term relationships (some married, some co-habiting) and who had kids (not with each other, of course).
The twins were asked questions about their relationships, and the answers then compared with their genetic make-up.
The ‘love-rat’ characteristics applied only to men who had two copies of the (love) rogue ‘334′ form of the AVP1A gene. Those men found it hard to bond with their significant other.
Apparently this gene is carried by 40% of men. Bloody brilliant.
