Cack-handed poor kids will become fat adults

Children who are clumsy will exercise less and become obese in later life, says a new study.
The research began 50 years ago and found that kids who hand control and co-ordination were lacking, were more prone to weight gain as adults.
The findings, published today by the British Medical Journal, show that people who were all fingers and thumbs at ages seven and 11, were more likely to be obese by just 33. So clearly they were still able to pick up a fork, just perhaps not chopsticks.
Clumsy kids also had an adulthood of old faithful, Type 2 diabetes, to look forward to.
The national child development study, which compiled the data, continues to follow everyone in Great Britain born here between 3 and 9 March, 1958. It also found that:
“Lower social class was associated with increased risk of obesity.”
Obesity contributes to risks of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and various cancers. Although those with poor motor skills aren’t so hot at step-aerobics, it doesn’t have to be a foregone conclusion. Various exercises can be done with little co-ordination, such as swimming.
