New wineglass figure down to too much boozing

Women in Britain drink so much they have developed a new type of body shape – appropriately called the wineglass.
That’s according to a leading dietician in the UK, who says the growth of women such as Welsh songbird (or should that be thrush?) Charlotte Church with large upper bodies and thin lower halves is down to a lot of exercise but too much boozing.
But before women in the UK all start to give themselves a pat on the back for inventing something new, let’s just say health and diet experts do not share your enthusiasm.
Now you may ask yourself what’s wrong with a lot of exercise and a lot of booze. Footballers and atheletes in the 60s and 70s swore by such a combination.
Besides, after pounding the treadmill for an hour you deserve a nice glass of point noir - or Lambrini, depending on your tastes.
Well, actually, no, says Jacqui Lowdon, from the British Dietetic Association, who first noticed this new trend. Spoilsport!
Speaking to UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph, she said: “Women forget to cut down on alcohol - a huge source of hidden calories. They are endangering more than their livers.
“Central obesity, where you accumulate fat around the waist, puts pressure on the heart.
“When you pour a glass of wine at home or order a large glass in a pub that could be two units of alcohol. If women want to watch their waistline, watch that wine glass.”
