Low-fat dairy products can lower risk of hypertension

High blood pressure can be reduced by consuming low-fat dairy products.
So say researchers at Harvard, who found that two daily servings of low-fat milk products could lower the risk of hypertension by a startling 11%.
The study, carried out at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard School of Public Health, found the link after testing 30,000 middle-aged and older women.
Higher fat dairy products with the same amount of calcium and vitamin D intake had little or no effect.
The study stated: “We found an inverse association between low-fat dairy product intake and the subsequent risk of hypertension.
“The association was moderate, graded and independent of known risk factors for hypertension.”
