Kristin Davis reveals her alcoholic past

Sex And The City star Kristin Davis has spoken candidly about her struggle with alcohol, and how she thought she wouldn’t make it past the age of 30.
Kristin, who plays Charlotte in the hit TV series and movie, explained that alcoholism runs in her family.
Her SATC character was often seen enjoying wine and cocktails alongside those expensive Manhattan dinners, but Kristin says that her problems were more than just social.
She told Marie Claire magazine:
I really didn’t think I would pass 30. I don’t know why or whatever, I just didn’t. That’s a very weird thing to say, I’m sorry. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I was drinking so much as a youth. I drank a lot when I was a teenager and I don’t drink any more, because that’s when I thought, you know, I’m gonna end up a car wreck. I just had a fatalistic view of the whole situation at that point.
The movie star became teetotal at the age of 22, for the obvious physical and mental health benefits.
However, when asked why she thought she turned to alcohol, Kristin said:
“It’s very hard to say a simple answer as to why. Alcoholism is a genetically predisposed disease and it does run in my family. I also think I felt like a misfit. I was in the South, everybody was blonde. I just didn’t feel like I fitted in. It was sort of my way of fitting.”
