Hurrah! A little bit of booze ‘good for you’

Drinkers everywhere should be raising a glass to the European Heart Journal.
Why? Because in a recent study they revealed that drinking a moderate amount of booze can actually reduce your chances of suffering from heart disease.
A Danish team found that people who exercised regularly, unsurprisingly – were at lower risk of heart disease. They then found that the risk was cut even further if they drank in moderation.
Nearly 12,000 people were studied for almost 20 years, and those who did not drink or take any exercise were found to be at the highest risk of heart disease.
People who exercised and drank between one and 14 units of alcohol per week were about 30% less likely to suffer from the disease than teetotallers.
UK experts have rained on the parade somewhat, though, warning that the study should not lead to people being encouraged to drink.

Somehow I can’t see a few scoops of cider and blackcurrant contributing to my health…
Even if it is two of my five a day fruits.
