How Burger King helped Robert Downey Jr beat drugs

Robert Downey Jr. has had some real lows in his life.
After all, the 43-year-old Iron Man star has struggled for years with drug and alcohol addiction.
Not to mention he was in Bowfinger and Ally McBeal. Talk about plumbing the depths.
But, apparently, these pale into insignificance compared to a trip to a Burger King drive-thru a few years back, when he had a cheeseburger which was so disgusting it made him give up the drugs and re-assess his entire life.
That must have been a pretty bad burger. Worse than those ones your mum used to make for you to stop you going to McDonald’s. Never worked.
Anyway, it happened in 2003 – that’s three years after he first started appearing in Ally McBeal and four after
Bowfinger incidentally – when he pulled up to order a meal with a car filled up with “tonnes of fucking dope”.
“I have to thank Burger King,” he told the UK film magazine Empire.
“It was such a disgusting burger I ordered. I had that, and this big soda, and I thought something really bad was going to happen.”
In fact, he was so appalled by the snack, he promptly dumped all his drug into the ocean.
Apart from getting a few fish hooked on drugs, Downey says he has never looked back.
I wonder what Burger King make of it.

Those goddamn burgers are pretty fucking addicting in their own right though. I think I should switch my addiction to coke until I lose some weight.
