Half of UK men trying to lose weight

Who said men could not careless about how their bodies look?
In fact, according to the most predictable health and diet survey since yesterday, men are just as keen as women to get rid of their flabby arms and stomachs as women.
Or at least in the UK they are. Not that we are saying other men around the world are not interested in shedding the pounds. No way!!
It’s just that the survey – released by PruHealth to mark Men’s Health Week – only asked British men.
Anyway, it found that more than half of British men (or at least the ones they asked) are trying to lose weight through some sort of diet or fitness regime.
Slightly more predictable is that three-quarters of them have already given up.
So why do they try it in the first place then? Well, as 10% are hoping to tone up for a beach holiday and 20% do it to try and ‘dazzle their friends’ at a special occasion, it’s not surprising they give up so easily.
Or at least as soon as the special event or holiday is over.
Slightly more surprising, is that most of the men asked (and I am wondering which sample of men they used) went on a diet or fitness regime to become healthier.
But then 10% admitted giving up beer was the hardest part of their health kick – with the majority finding giving up crisps and chocolate the toughest. Only 10% - now that really is interesting!
PruHealth’s chief executive Shaun Matisonn said: “It’s encouraging to see a rise in the amount of men committing to getting fit and healthy.
“Obesity is on the rise among adults and children, so it’s becoming increasingly important to make the effort to stay in shape and Men’s Health Week is a great way to highlight this.
“There are easy ways to incorporate a little more exercise into your daily routine, such as getting off the Tube or bus a stop earlier and walking, or cutting down on unhealthy snacks, which can also help save a bit of money.”
Bet men all over the UK are delighted! Thanks Shaun!!
