A wine glass of grease in every kebab

You won’t be surprised to hear that doner kebabs are really, really bad for you - it’s something that everybody is aware of.
But do you know exactly how much fat is in one of these late-night mistakes?
Double your daily allowance, that’s how much. Or, in real terms, 139g of pure fat. Disgusting!
In other horror statistics, an average kebab contains 10g of salt - you shouldn’t be eating any more than 6g each day - and 25% of the entire kebab is made up of fat. Feeling sick yet?
Expert dietician and nutritionist Denise Thomas announced the most shocking fact of all: ‘The fat content on its own gives you 1,000 calories – equivalent to a wine glass of cooking oil.
“The majority of it is saturated so it’s going to raise your cholesterol and give you thickening of your arteries.”
Nice. Really nice.
Next time you’re starving when you stumble out of the pub on a Friday night, think twice about what you’re going to get from the takeaway. The Indian favourite of chicken korma came second to the kebab in terms of fatty facts, but don’t worry - there is something on the menu that could satisfy prospective healthy eaters.
Barbecue pork from a Chinese takeaway came out with the lowest levels of fat - 4.5g per portion - and a relatively small amount of salt at 2.3g. If you’re worried about your salt intake, the best takeaway for you is cod and chips, which only has 0.9g of salt per serving.
Surprising really, considering where cod comes from…
