DietPixie discovers how real women look good and stay healthy

It’s all well and good to get the inside info on Charlotte Church’s home gym or what type of fruit we should eat to get a flatter stomach, but isn’t it more useful and refreshing to hear how real women diet?
Many of us juggle high-pressure jobs and a busy home life, with barely a second to even think about going to the gym.
We chatted to probate fee earner Katy Seigel, 31, from Huddersfield, about diet, fitness and health.
What do you eat on a typical day? I’m on a healthy eating kick at the moment so my typical day would start with either toast, crumpets or cereal. Lunch would consist of either a pasta salad or sandwich followed by a pack of French Fries. If I get peckish mid-afternoon, I snack on melon, then for my evening meal something like a stir fry or fish, jacket potatoes and veg. A Mini Milk ice lolly for dessert.
What’s the worst diet you’ve ever followed? Slim Fast. I enjoy my food too much so a drink for breakfast and lunch just didnt do it for me, my body was still expecting something solid!
Are there any foods you try to eat regularly? Salad and veg. I have also just bought a blender so have started making my own smoothies.
What’s the best meal you’ve ever eaten? Unfortunately I am a pizza obsessive which isn’t really conducive to dieting! My favourite pizza is BBQ chicken from Papa Johns.
Which item is a staple in your cupboard/fridge? I always have chicken in the freezer as you can make so many meals out of it. Plus loads of herbs and spices to give a bit of a kick to a bland meal.
What’s your favourite comfort food? Pizza or cookies.
What do you do to keep fit? Walk or swim. I love going for long walks in the country, although I dont get the opportunity to do it that often. A group of friends and I stay in a cottage each year and tend to spend the days exploring the local countryside. Sometimes it’s gentle walks and sometimes it feels more like a hike!
Do you take any vitamins or supplements? No.
What do you do to relax? It depends who I’m with but curling up with a good book is always good for me.
What’s your ultimate tip for wellbeing? Live life to the full, after all, we only get one chance at it!
What’s your diet motto? A little bit of what you fancy does you good.
