DietPixie discovers how real women look good and stay healthy

It’s all well and good to get the inside info on Charlotte Church’s home gym or what type of fruit we should eat to get a flatter stomach, but isn’t it more useful and refreshing to hear how real women diet?
Many of us juggle high-pressure jobs and a busy home life, with barely a second to even think about going to the gym.
We asked Leila Day, 23, a student from Huddersfield, to tell us how she stays in shape.
What do you eat on a typical day? It varies quite a lot, depending on whether I’m hungover or not, but on a regular day I’d have either brown toast or bran flakes for breakfast, a meal deal from Boots for lunch, followed by meat, potatoes and some sort of veg for dinner. I have takeaways about once every fortnight.
What’s the worst diet you’ve ever followed? I don’t really follow diets as such, and if I do it only lasts for a day! But I did give up chocolate for two years.
Are there any foods you try to eat regularly? Fruit - I love it! - and salad. I have to eat something green everyday as it makes me feel better.
What’s the best meal you’ve ever eaten? I’m a massive lover of fish. I will never forget the seabass I had at my cousin’s hen do as it was cooked with prawns and butter - amazing!
Which item is a staple in your cupboard/fridge? That would be either sweetcorn, crisps or potatoes.
What’s your favourite comfort food? Crisps.
What do you do to keep fit? I am a member of a gym and I like to go every other day.
Do you take any vitamins or supplements? When I remember, I take multi vitamins.
What do you do to relax? I go out with my mates or have a bath with a good book.
What’s your ultimate tip for wellbeing? Laugh everyday!
What’s your diet motto? Don’t deprive yourself of anything, just eat in moderation and try to be active.
